Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines and watch while millions of others fight for the right to equality. While we don’t support unlawful actions that endanger the lives of others, we encourage everyone to ask what they could do to help make a positive impact. Sometimes a great place to start is by looking at ourselves.
At Playfair Planning, we’ve recently added regular inclusivity discussions to our team meetings, and I have to admit the result is not what I expected. Don’t get me wrong, the talks have been incredibly valuable, and we’ve built a closer team because of it. It’s just been eye-opening to hear people I feel I know quite well share stories about a time in their lives when they felt diminished or excluded. Sometimes the stories come from people I would have never guessed might share that experience with me. It demonstrates how much we all share and sheds light on some of our own unconscious biases we may have formed over the years. We can all do better.
We’re committed to building more awareness of the problem. It’s part of our ongoing efforts to fight racism in our communities. We invite you to join in by sharing stories with your friends, co-workers and family members. Together we can bring more inclusivity to the world for everyone.
